Two Hands Wines was founded in early 1999 with the aim to make the best possible Shiraz-based wines from prized growing regions throughout Australia. Headed up by Founder and Managing Director, Michael Twelftree, Two Hands' intention was, and still is, to showcase the diversity of Australian Shiraz by highlighting regional characteristics and allowing the fruit to be the primary feature of the wines. Michael personally guides the wines through the viticulture and winemaking process and refers to the very intimate approach taken with each small parcel of grapes.
Two Hands set out to be unique. This approach is reflected in everything from the names of the wines through to innovative packaging and, not least, the wines themselves. Two Hands has grown to be a clear market leader and is now sold in over 38 countries around the world. From small beginnings, the winery has been able to manage its growth organically whilst maintaining its quality core value and we are now turning our attention to further developing our estate vineyards in the Barossa Valley.
At Two Hands Wines we offer our guests a unique Cellar Door experience through a structured but relaxed tasting with our knowledgeable and friendly team at our home in Marananga in the Barossa Valley.
Kraehe House, a late 19th Century stone cottage with its adjoining Bakehouse, is open for tastings and sales from 10am to 5pm, seven days a week (except Good Friday, Christmas Day, Boxing Day, and New Year’s Day). With the state of the art interior complemented by the stunning tasting deck at the back of the building, our Marananga home provides a beautiful setting amongst the vineyards of the Western Ranges.
Our Cellar Door experience is focused on offering visitors an intimate, informative tasting of the wines throughout our portfolio, from the Picture Series through to our Flagship Series wines. With the ‘Showroom Only’ wines and the latest offerings from the Twelftree range of Grenaches, there is always something new to sample. A modest tasting fee of $5 is donated entirely to our selected charity, the Uganda Project.
On weekend mornings and by prior appointment, we take a select few down into the depths of the winery to see first hand what goes on behind the scenes at Two Hands. This is a great chance to get an insight into the secrets of winemaking along with an exclusive tasting direct from barrel of our latest vintages as they go through the extended maturation process. Bookings are essential for the ‘Tour and Taste’ experience and can be made by contacting our Cellar Door directly.
