About Barossa Food

Foods made locally by Food Barossa members reflect local food traditions by producing ingredients and dishes that have connections with the settlers’ original food products and customs.

Barossa Food began in 2000, when the founding producer-members proudly presented their products at a launch at Peter Lehmann Wines. As part of the constitution, producers seeking promotion under Barossa Food logo had to meet certain criteria established jointly by the producers themselves.

Today, Barossa Food is the industry body for food and commodity growers, producers, brewers, fermenters, retailers, restaurants, caterers and hospitality bodies who grow/produce/serve/sell food within the Barossa. Members share a commitment to the development and protection of sustainable food production in our region as well as effective promotion of the Barossa as a leading food producer and food destination, helping to build the overall status of the region. 

Barossa Food is governed by a volunteer committee, with practical experience in many aspects of the business of food. The skills and experience provided by committee members include: business management, strategic planning, local government, marketing, food development and production. 


For Barossa to be one of the best recognised food regions in Australia, representative of a food culture that is true to its grass roots and seasons, yet innovative, with insight to accommodate and meet current and future market expectations.
