A collection of work by local artist Lee Teusner - part of the 2013 SALA Festival.
"In my first collection of paintings, I’m exploring a very feminine world, old fashioned courtesies and romance.
Growing up in a small country town I was always a bright lights, bigger town kind of girl, yearning for a cultural connection. My family was always involved in local theatre, we loved the world of make believe and as an adult and a painter this has evolved into my work.
The glamour and the imagination of the stage was exciting, but for me all the excitement was backstage, in the transformation made possible by make-up, costumes and playing dress-up.
I acknowledge the space of romantic reverie that gets forgotten in real life, and aspire to create a pocket to feed our imagination, reminding us of our femininity.
I want to inspire women to recognise their grace, embrace the small details and accessories that add a world of class on a daily basis. Acknowledge the hour before the magic of the evening happens, glimpses of the world where she makes time to be beautiful - the preparation.
Applaud and explore the private corners where women go to spoil themselves and recall their own elegance.
My paintings give women the luxury of being feminine and men an opportunity to remember why he loves her."
