South Australia Country Choral Association – 50th Celebration Concert
20 September 2014, 2:00pm-4:00pm
Location: Magnolia Road, Tanunda, SA 5352
It all began when... A small seed was sown in 1953 and 1954 by the HON. Boyd Dawkins MLC, Conductor of the then Gawler-Barossa Oratorio Choir, began with 2 Festivals in Renmark featuring 5 country choirs within S.A.
The decision was eventually made to form a S.A. Country Choral Association and with Boyd as President , this began in 1964 with a massed choir of over 250 voices. Growing from strength to strength over following years with a gradual combination of musical styles, many regional choirs formed to encourage choral music, and has culminated in 22 successful Festivals, the last being in Clare in Sept 2013. Wonderful friendships have been formed, establishing memories of goodwill, solidarity, fellowship, and unity, all created through music and in particular, choral singing.
