The food of Marseille
The most famous port in the south of France is also one of the most multicultural cities in the Mediterranean. Over centuries it has welcomed seafarers from around the Mediterranean, the resulting cuisine a spicy mix of French, Spanish, Italian and North African Arab influences. Once synonymous with fisherman’s stew, rich with saffron and garlic in the style of Bouillabaisse, now it is Moroccan cous cous, Tunisian tajines and Italian inspired fresh and bright salads that are rivaling the classic Provencal dishes for popularity. Be prepared to enjoy an exotic, fragrant and fresh feast of sun-drenched cuisine.
