Crowd Pleaser at Mt Pleasant Farmer's Market
24 August 2013
A wintry Saturday morning did not keep crowds away from the Mount Pleasant Farmers Market to hear special guest speaker, author Liz Harfull.
After being introduced to the crowd by Chairman of the farmers market, Courtney Regan, Liz had the audience engaged with her tales of places she has been and of the interesting people that she has met. Among the listeners was local identity Joyce Fendler, who will be featured in her next book. The next book will be along similar lines as Liz’s award winning book “The Blue Ribbon Cookbook”.
Promotions Officer Terese Reeves said “The market was very honoured and privileged to have someone of Liz’s calibre happy to come to our market and speak.”
After her talk Liz was presented with a selection of goodies from the market, and was kept very busy by the crowd wanting book signing.
The market also had some new stallholders join the Farmers Market family, in Rehn Biers and Farmhouse Favourites, both from the local area.
Brenton Rehn and his family run Rehn Biers from their home in Angaston, in the Barossa Valley. Rehn’s stout and tripel both won bronze awards at the recent Australian International Beer Awards.
Farmhouse Favourites is run by husband and wife team Lyn and Peter Kuhlmann from their home at Angas Valley where they specialise in home bake goods.
Genevieve Hebart said “The Mount Pleasant Farmers Market is proud to be supporting local producers with a venue to sell & promote their quality products”
The undercover Mount Pleasant Farmers Market is held every Saturday, 8am -12noon at the Mount Pleasant Showgrounds. Managed by a local not-for-profit Incorporated community group, the Market provides local employment, supports sustainable farming, and provides an affordable local food shopping experience for locals and visitors to the region.
