Culture in the Barossa – what do you think?
Members of the public are invited to give their views on Arts and Culture in the Barossa through a survey released by The Barossa Council this week.
In an effort to better understand the impact of arts and culture in the community, Council is hoping feedback from the community will give them a clearer picture of what is valued by residents. The survey is available in hard copy throughout Council’s branches and from Barossa Regional Gallery, and also via email and a web link on Council’s website.
The Barossa Council is one of five local councils in South Australia involved in a Cultural Impact Pilot Project. The survey is just one of several initiatives aimed at understanding the impact of cultural activity initiated and supported by Council, and the impact of Council decisions on the culture of the region.
The project, funded through the Local Government Association Research and Development Scheme, aims to develop a practical toolkit which Councils can use to evaluate, benchmark and measure the value of investment in the culture of the community.
“Council is always keen to invest in the culture of the region through arts and heritage activities, and knowing what’s important for the community will help us plan for the future,” said Council’s Manager Community and Culture, Maz McGann.
Staff will be involved in distributing the survey and hope to get between 200 and 300 respondents over the next month.
