Halliday rates Bethany 2012 LE Shiraz 96 points
11 July 2014
Australia’s go-to wine critic James Halliday has given Bethany Wines' new release LE Reserve Shiraz a 96-point rating and a glowing review.
The 2012 LE Reserve Shiraz, which honours the memory of fourth generation Lawrence and Edna Schrapel, features in the August edition of Wine Companion magazine.
Halliday’s review reads:
“Bright purple-crimson; a high quality wine that calmly, but convincingly, ticks all the boxes; it is a perfect portrait of medium-bodied Barossa Valley Shiraz, with black fruits supported by fine-grained tannins and quality French oak on a supple and long palate. Seriously lovely wine.”
Wines rating 96 points or above are considered outstanding and of exceptional quality.
The 2012 LE Reserve Shiraz is the third wine from the LE series. This wine is only made in the best of vintages to ensure the true varietal expression of the Barossa Foothills.
The LE Shiraz typically displays fresh, vibrant plum and blackberry aromas which carry on to rich, varietal flavours on the palate. The finish is long and displays an excellent balance of silky tannins and natural acidity.
