The name Thorn-Clarke derives literally from the relationship between two long time Barossa families. Husband and wife, David and Cheryl Clarke both have deep family roots in the Barossa. Cheryl Clarke’s family, the Thorn’s, have been grape growers in the Barossa since the 1870′s. David Clarke’s family were pioneers in the Barossa as well but most famously in the mining of gold from the Barossa Goldfields. Together David and Cheryl have established and grown Thorn-Clarke into the successful winery it is today.
Our paramount objective at Thorn-Clarke Wines is to produce high quality regional wines that offer our customers excellent value for money.
From the very first step of the winemaking journey we were extremely careful to ensure that all of the ingredients for success were in place. Our four vineyards situated around the Barossa region have all been site selected to ensure that we can provide the ideal growing conditions for each variety. Each site represents a different microclimate from the dry and warm St Kitts vineyard in the Northern Barossa to the cool Mt Crawford vineyard in the Southern Eden Valley.
This attention to detail carries through to the winemaking side, with our winery located at the Milton Park vineyard – here at the winery we ensure that our wines over deliver in quality across a number of different price points. Our Sandpiper, Shotfire and William Randell ranges have received many accolades over the years the latest being for our 2010 William Randell Shiraz which received Trophies at the 2013 International Wine Challenge for “Top Australian Shiraz and “Top Barossa Shiraz”.
Regional Barossa and Eden Valley wines, grown on 100% family owned vineyards with the utmost care taken from the vineyards to the bottle. This ensures every time our customers purchase a bottle of Thorn-Clarke wine, they know where it is from, the care taken and the outstanding quality and value it offers.
