There's a real buzz in the main street thanks to the vibrant cafés, wine bars, cellar doors smart little antique and retail shops and traditional shops.

Angaston is also home to some of the Barossa's best food. Whether it's a coffee and brunch you're looking for, a light meal matched with a wine tasting expereince or a main meal (perhaps an award-winning pizza) there are lots of options.

You need to be prepared to take home lots of local produce from Angaston... there's plenty to choose from at Barossa Farmers Market each Saturday morning, or throughout the week at the Barossa Valley Cheese Company, Blond Coffee, SA Company Store, Schulz Butchers (home of Australia's best bacon) and Angas Park fruit company.

With a population of around 2000, Angaston is at the ‘English’ or eastern end of the Barossa and was named after one of South Australia’s founders, George Fife Angas, who sponsored many of the region’s early German settlers. The Angas family was a major influence here for many generations, with one of their homes, Collingrove, now a popular tourism attraction. There is a terrific selection of B&Bs, both hosted and self-contained, as you'll need a rest after all of the activity Angaston has to offer.
