The Willows Vineyard, home of the Scholz family since 1845 lies in the north eastern pocket of the Barossa Valley. Our 200 acre property at Light Pass, was settled by `Bonesetter` Johann Gottfried Scholz.
His family established The Willows Hospital, which was run by successive generations of Scholz physicians until 1960. Extremely proud of our forebears` fortitude and accomplishments in Light Pass, we strive to maintain and care for this wonderful property. Heritage listed, visitors to the property, drive by the old Hospital with its majestic Cork Elm, to Hulda's cottage….now the cellar door.
The vineyard established in 1936, now has over 100 acres of vines under the watchful eye of the family and long time vineyard manager John Bartsch. Our Barossa vineyard is our strength and our focus.
Our philosophy is` our wines must have generosity of fruit and you can only achieve that if you are in touch with the vineyard`.
We grow Riesling, Semillon, Grenache, Mataro, Cabernet Sauvignon & Shiraz.
Winemaking brothers Peter and Michael Scholz (6th generation descendants), make wines that are 100% Barossan and sourced entirely from our own single vineyard at Light Pass.
You are welcome to visit our cellar door & taste our wines, including our flagship `Bonesetter` Shiraz (as available) & our `Doctor` Sparkling Shiraz.
