“A New Heritage”

Murray Street Vineyards is writing a new chapter in the proud heritage of the Barossa.

Using old world techniques and small vineyard parcels to create wines that speak of the locale and the variety, they are defining the hallmarks of generosity and flavour.

Winemaker Andrew Seppelt is a direct descendant of Benno and Sophia Seppelt who were true pioneers of the Australian wine industry and laid the foundations for the Barossa to become the one of the most important wine regions in Australia. With this family heritage and a passion for wine, Andrew felt a strong drive to continue in the Seppelt tradition of making classic wines and established Murray Street Vineyards at Greenock in 2002.

Murray Street Vineyards - Cellar Door

Murray Street Vineyards’ winemaking philosophy begins in the vineyard where they cultivate such classic varieties as Shiraz, Mataro, Grenache, Viognier, Marsanne and Semillon.

Andrew’s winemaking practices incorporate Old World techniques and modern technology to help define the future winemaking style of the Barossa as an approachable and generously flavoured offering.

They manage their vineyard estates in a sustainable way, mindful of their environmental responsibility and of leaving a healthy legacy for future generations. This approach extends to the revegetation of the areas surrounding the vineyards with extensive planting of native flora appropriate to the area.

There is no better place to admire this natural beauty than the beautiful surrounds of the Tasting Room, located conveniently on Murray Street in the hamlet of Greenock.

The award winning Tasting Room was named “Best Cellar Door in the Barossa in 2010” and received the Regional SA Advantage Tourism Award for 2012 as it is the perfect setting to sample the award winning MSV range.  Visitors can also linger over an artisan platter of local produce, savouring a glass of Murray Street Vineyards’ finest.

Murray Street Vineyards have recently launched a unique tasting experience titled The Importance of Oak. This experience focuses on the role of the oak barrel in the craft of winemaking. Taste the MSV Gomersal Estate Shiraz straight from the barrel while exploring the characters of each one of the five oak influences on the wine. This is truly a ‘tree to glass’ experience. The Importance of Oak tasting experience will be held daily by appointment (with a maximum of six people) at $180 per person.
Bookings through the Tasting Room Manager - phone: 08 8562 8373.
