Featured Winery: Schild Estate
At Schild Estate you can still shake hands with family members from three generations who have become the family’s heart including Ed Schild, Patriarch and his children and grandchildren.
Ed Schild and the Southern Barossa’s best soils go hand in hand in creating renowned vintages. Weathering highs and lows, Ed worked to grow a down to earth family business of vignerons from the age of 16, when he first took over the business. Today, his passion and ethos for working a vineyard to harvest vibrant fruits is deeply rooted in his family and his son Mick manages over 450 acres of vineyard and mixed farm. The whole family is dedicated to creating wines with authenticity and passion, that speak of a sense of place. All wines are from the Southern Barossa, where you’ll find the Schild Estate vineyards, winery and cellar door.
Valley of Hope Winery
In 2009 Schild Estate commenced building a new state of the art winery facility in Lyndoch. Surrounded by 40 acres of prime vineyard land, this purpose built facility was designed in conjunction with an experienced winery design team in order to provide greater control of the winemaking process. Operational by the end of 2010 vintage, the “Valley of Hope” Winery is capable of processing up to 1,000 tonnes of fruit each year in small batch fermenters. Automatic tank temperature control systems, a self-weighing stainless steel crusher, air bag presses, an on-site laboratory, significant barrel and finished goods storage and an integrated rain water recycling and waste water system all ensure the facility is equipped to the highest industry specifications and capable of carrying Schild Estate well into the future.
Schild Estate Cellar Door is the home of our wines and our family. Located in the heart of Lyndoch in the Southern Barossa Valley. At Cellar Door all our wines can be enjoyed in the tasting room or in the relaxed courtyard outside. Some wines on tasting cannot be purchased anywhere else plus there are cellar door only specials on our wines. Also on offer are regional grazing platters showcasing delicious Barossa produce and great coffee too.
Whilst being served by experienced cellar door staff who have great knowledge of the wines, be prepared to share stories with one of the winemakers or Schild family members who are often around.
Cellar Door is open 10am to 5pm, 7 days a week, with the exception of some Public Holidays.
Buses are by appointment only.
