Yelland and Papps

Susan Yelland and Michael Papps started Yelland & Papps in 2005 with no ancestry of winemaking but something that had them hooked as soon as they started to work in the Wine Industry. Forging relationships with Barossa Valley growers from the start they then went on to purchase the original Hahn homestead in the Ober Langmeil (Dorrien) region of Barossa Valley in 2010, converting a vineyard property to their own winery allowing them to make all their wine onsite and themselves.

Starting with their own vineyard converting this to organics (not certified) in 2011 the vineyards are hand pruned by themselves and throughout the year run their Dorper Damara sheep through the vineyard to maintain.

Respecting the traditions, they believe in picking on acid and flavour balance and when the vine is truly in its best condition, allowing minimal or no acid additions, and minimal doses of sulphur dioxide or none at all. With natural yeast allowing to spontaneous ferment in the winery and refusing filtration or fining on all wines, to enable a true expression of style.

Wines are foremost hand crafted to be elegant with structure texture and with aging capabilities.
