( A detailed self guided tour brochure is available from the Kapunda Visitor Information Centre). Known as the "Cattle King" Sir Sidney Kidman, he lived in Kapunda from the 1880's to 1921. From here he managed a pastoral empire and became the largest landowner in Australia. Upon retirement in 1921, he donated his home 'Eringa' to the Education Department. Since 1922 his home has been Kapunda High School. A Mural and Bust is located in the Post Office quadrangle and his famous horse sales (the largest in the southern hemisphere) were held directly behind the historic North Kapunda Hotel.
