This year, you can join the winemakers and immerse yourselves in a true Barossa behind-the-scenes vintage experience. With vintage in full swing, go beyond wine tasting, gain exclusive access to learn about the wine-making process and see what really happens during vintage. Chateau Yaldara, Vintage Tour and Dinner

Want to experience wine-making the crux of vintage? Chateau Yaldara invites you to join their twilight vintage tour. Start your evening with a glass of bubbles and Barossa produce platter before embarking on a journey of the Estate to learn about the wine-making process and see first hand the hustle and bustle of a winery in full swing as the 2020 vintage wines are made. Then finish the evening, with a casual two-course dinner complete with matching Chateau Yaldara wines.

Chateau Tanunda - Beyond the Velvet Rope

Go beyond the vines at Chateau Tanunda this vintage and discover the journey from grape to bottle with access to every facet of the winemaking process in the iconic Grand Estate. The 90 minute (approx.) tour gives you privileged access to explore century-old vineyards and delve into the heart of the winery to experience firsthand, the secrets behind their award-winning wines and Chateau Tanunda’s colourful history.

Fernfield Wines, Winery Tour and Barrel Tasting – Eden Valley

For a truly boutique winemaking experience, learn how Fernfield Wines wines are made; from hand picking to hand plunging in open top fermenters and basket pressing. This experience allows you to visit the winery one-on-one with the winemaker, try wine from its early stages all the way through to finely aged wine ready for the bottle and even chat with the winemaker about their winemaking techniques and secrets.

During vintage, you will be able to taste the ripening grapes and fermenting wine, and if your timing is lucky you can watch crushing or pressing in action, or even help hand-plunge a ferment.

Price - $25 pp, (Duration 30mins to 1hr - minimum of two people, available Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday from 10am to 4pm.)

Ballycroft Vineyard and Cellars - Greenock

Ballycroft, small winemaker, big wines! As one of the smallest family owned wineries in the Barossa, Ballycroft are proud to offer behind-the-scenes experiences. You’ll almost feel like part of the winemaking family, as Joe and Sue take you behind the shed doors where you’ll be able to see everything from grape picking to pump overs and grape pressings. And it’s all part of the normal tasting experience!

Bookings are essential for this experience. Being a small family operated winery, Joe and Sue are often busy working on the property. Their hands-on approach means they are involved in every process of vintage including acting as cellar hands and cellar doors sales. Contact Joe and Sue for more information. 

Thorn Clarke

Every Tuesday and Thursday during the month of March, Thorn-Clarke are offering an exclusive behind the scenes vintage tour and experience. Available for small groups only, the experience includes a tour of the working winery where you will meet chief winemaker, Peter Kelly, before tasting wine direct from barrels and finish off with a tasting in cellar door (includes 10% discount for wines purchased on the day).

Tour is free, and commences at 9am every Tuesday and Thursday. Must be booked in advance (8564 3036 or ) as limited spots are available.

Hayes Family Wines 

Get dirty with a hands-on vintage experience. Hayes Family Wines offers a unique opportunity to sample and hand pick fruits and experience for yourself the various stages in the wine-making process including crushing, pressing and tasting the grapes.  

This family owned business also offers a variety of other behind-the-scenes experiences including private winery walk-throughs, and their Old Vines to Great Wines tour.
