My Barossa Day #18 - Making magical memories

My Barossa Day is all about making magical memories. Exploring and taking in all the beautiful views, delicious produce and amazing wine our region serves up on a daily basis. So with Camera in one hand and a copy of the Barossa Touring Map in the other, off we go!
The day must start at first light with a adventure high in the sky, courtesy of Barossa Balloon Adventure. May is the best month for ballooning, the calmest month for safe and exciting vistas! The crisp mornings make for the most spectacular adventures. If you’re lucky there will be a layer of crisp frost to enhance your photography.
Now of course, you will be hungry for a nice breakfast or brunch. An essential breakfast stop is out to the good people at El Estanco. Their food is simple, honest and most importantly delicious!
I’m thinking it’s too early for wine tasting (or maybe not) so a brisk walk is in order with a bit of kangaroo spotting and some fabulous unique Flora. It’s off to the Kaiser Stuhl Conservation park for a 45-minute walk to ease the conscience and get some great shots. Follow up with a quick stop at Menglers Hill lookout, to take in the spectacular Barossa views. “It looks like a patchwork quilt” is often the comment – you’ll see why.
Now I think there is enough time for our first wine tasting before lunch. It's also probably a good idea to decide who is the driver for the rest of the day. On your way down from Menglers Hill to the Valley Floor, turn left, after a few hundred meters you will come to Seabrook Wines. A cute little cellar door, with a very nice deck at the back overlooking the vines. Taste the Riesling first – one of my favourites
Back in your car, now head a little North, past the Menglers Hill turnoff, to Harvest Kitchen. An excellent lunch destination - there's so many to choose from in the Barossa! Lunch at Harvest Kitchen is often a long induglent affair, I would recommend a good couple of hours so you can enjoy the seasonal shared menu.
After Lunch drive a little north, turn left on Seigesdorf Rd, Travel several kilometres to the west, to the second round-a-bout, turn right and travel down the road to Maggie Beer's Farm Shop, where you explore the full range of Maggie Beer products and items exclusive to the Farm Shop & Cafe.
After tasting and stocking up on some of Maggie's goodies to take home, return to the round-a-bout and then travel west again to Seppeltsfield Village. Make sure your there before 3.30pm so you can take the tour through the historical cellars. Seppeltsfield is the home of the 100 year old port, so you can imagine the old barrel halls. After your tour you can taste the range of Seppeltsfield wines.
By now it’s about 4.30 – 5.00 pm. I recommend a break before dinner to freshen up. So its back at your accommodation.
There are so many fine dining choices all over the Barossa, all types of cuisine and all price points. I think a short taxi ride to Three75 Bar + Kitchen is in order. Expect delicious, casual dining, with a fine wine selection, and a fantastic view of the sunsets.
Now if you have any energy left, ask your Taxi to take you to Musque wine bar in the Main St, Tanunda, for a relaxing night cap before calling it a day. With luck your camera has recorded some fantastic Barossa memories to share with your friends. Tomorrow is another day – you can do it all again!
