Brockenchack - named after its owner’s four grandchildren, Bronte, Mackenzie, Charli and Jack - produces single vineyard boutique Eden Valley wines.
After several years of visiting the Barossa and falling in love with its people, its history and its wines, Trevor & Marilyn Harch backed up their love affair with this magical region by purchasing the historic Tanunda Cellars bottleshop in 1999, which they are still proud owners of today, ensuring the old store continues to ward off the challenge of new retailers and remain the region’s pre-eminent source of great Barossa wines. Following that, Trevor took it upon himself to become an unofficial spokesman for the Barossa and spent the following decade ‘bringing the Barossa to Queensland,’ even opening Brisbane’s premiere wine bar; Bar Barossa.
No stranger to wine, in 2007 Trevor jumped on an opportunity to really embrace his passion, and purchased an established vineyard in Eden Valley’s Keyneton, with a view to retiring down to this gorgeous corner of the world one day with his beautiful wife.
The property, a working vineyard for over a century, was then producing grapes that went into a premium red for one of the Barossa’s most iconic wineries. Trevor, with good friend and talented winemaker Shawn Kalleske on board, knew he was onto a good thing. With our first vintage in 2008, the vineyard has grown to include the neighbouring block, giving a total of 9 hectares of prime grape growing land and boasting what is thought to be some of the oldest Riesling vines in Australia, planted in 1896.
With he and Marilyn now permanently living on the estate after the lure of the land became simply too strong to ignore, Trevor has every intention of working his land and nurturing his grapes until he’s 103!
With a 5 star winery rating from James Halliday and consecutive medal wins from the Barossa Wine Show, Brockenchack is really starting to come into its own.
Our passion and pride is our cool climate hand crafted Shiraz – the premium Jack Harrison Shiraz and the ultra-premium William Frederick Shiraz.
As a first-generation family vineyard, our vision is to carry the Brockenchack name on through future generations and to one day be revered among the best in the Barossa.
